World Sight Day, observed annually on the second Thursday of October, is a global initiative that aims to raise awareness about the burden of visual impairment and blindness, and to promote the need for inclusive and accessible eye care for all. This year's theme, "Love Your Eyes," encourages individuals to prioritize their own eye health and spread the message of prevention and early intervention.
To commemorate this event, we were honoured to have distinguished doctors and experts share their insights and experiences in various aspects of eye care. The occasion began with a melodious song sung by Bhumika of Grade 10, accompanied by guitarist Madhura of Grade 8.
Dr. Prashant Thorat, Mr. Sunil Kumar Prabhakaran, Dr. Vaishnavi Patil, and Dr. Aslesha Thorat, along with the supportive team from Prabhat Trust and Hospitals, led an interactive and insightful session with students actively participating. Some spot prizes were awarded to the students, and a puzzle was presented for them to solve.
In conclusion, World Sight Day serves as a reminder of the importance of eye care and the need for early intervention and prevention. By prioritizing our own eye health and spreading awareness, we can work towards a future where everyone has access to inclusive and accessible eye care.
